Firefly Nail Art: The Hero of Canton, The Man They Call Jayne

Hello lovelies! Today I've got something for all of you Firefly and Serenity fans out there.

Now tell me - now that I said that, what does this mani make you think of? To anyone that said Jayne's hat - DING DING DING! You win!!!

I had no clue what to do when I started this mani, but as soon as I picked up Firefly, everything just came together! Jayne's hat was just calling to be put into nail art!

Life Events... I'M ENGAGED AND WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!!!

Hi lovelies! This has been a long time coming, and I kept hinting at it, but I finally had to let you guys know! Back in October 2012, William proposed to me while we were on a cruise on the Freedom of the Seas! I had absolutely no clue, and I was only too happy to say yes!

Here's my ring! Isn't it BEAUTIFUL?!? And guess what else - it glows blue under blacklight too! **Oooooh, Ahhhhh...** Blue is Will's favorite color and one of mine as well. [More pictures of this mani to come!]

And then, in February we bought a house! A great three bedroom place with an open floor plan that we both LOVE! Pictures to come when I've finally gotten the decor the way I want it. That reminds me that I need to go shopping for curtains tonight! Yay shopping!

Things here have been busy busy busy planning wedding stuff and housewarming parties, so the nails have fallen by the wayside a little bit. I should still be popping in from time to time with nails. (I've comandeered the guest bedroom to use as a polish station!)

I do really want to thank all of you for keeping up with me even though I haven't been posting very often. I think I went from around 112 followers to 150 without posting much, so thanks so much to all of you that are new followers, and of course all of my previous followers too! (Unfortunately Google has decided to get rid of Google Friend Connect, but I have others ways you can follow me - I'll be posting an update on that as well. Just check the right sidebar, for now I have Facebook, Twitter, Bloglovin, and Google +. Google Reader - oopsies! I misread someone's post - but Google is getting rid of just Reader. I just switched to Feedly!)

Zoya Dannii

Hey lovelies! I know it's been a while, and I've been super busy, so right now I'm giving you a couple older nails to catch up. I've got Zoya - Dannii for you today, and I absolutely love this color! It's a great lilac with pink and silver shimmer.

I really loved the sparkle in this polish. Sooo pretty!!!

Taking a Break

Hello everyone, I just wanted to let you know that I will be taking a break from blogging as things in my life have gotten quite a bit busier recently. I've been teaching three college level biology labs since August along with keeping up my 40 hours at my full time job. I'm also looking into doing some volunteer hours over the weekends, so blogging is going to have to sit on the back burner for a while (at least the rest of this semester).

When I do get back into blogging, there will likely be more posts about jewelry-making along with nail polish, so I'm pretty excited about that!

Purple Monochromatic Nails (Very Picture Heavy)

Hello again, lacqueristas! Today I've got my entry for Polish Art Addiction's Monochrome Contest!

The point of the contest is to use different shades within one color family, so of course I chose purple! However, the sun didn't want to play nice today in good ol' SC and has given me really bad shots. And I used a Del Sol color-changing polish that changes in the sun (from red to purple), but the sun didn't want to come out to play! Therefore, I've got an entry that might end up getting disqualified because of the sun, that jerk!

So we'll see how it turns out. :) Regardless of whether or not it gets disqualified, I still had a fun time trying out saran wrap *and* border nails for the first time! Yay experiments!

Good news, everyone! The sun came out (while it was raining), and gave me a nice double rainbow and some awesome sun for the pictures, although it still didn't change the Del Sol very much. Ah, well. Here are the pics in the sun!

The rainbow is above my index finger, to the right of my middle finger! It was so big and beautiful while I was driving around, but I didn't get a good picture of it once I got home. Still awesome though!

It was still sprinkling when I took these. See the rainwater on my ring finger?

Because my nails are pretty curved, the magnetic pattern doesn't appear on my entire nail, but I think it's totally fine because of the awesome effect it has on most of the nail. I seriously could not look away from this polish! Both the color and the pattern are lovely!

I really loved this color. If you know me, then you know purple is my favorite color. However, I've always liked blue-toned purples more than red-toned ones like this one, but I think Red-y Response has changed my mind. The wine color of this polish looks amazing with my skin tone! And now I am even more in love with my favorite color because of my new-found appreciation of it! Yay purples!
