Spotted: Sinful Colors Valentine's Day Set at Walgreens

Hello lovelies! I was poking around my favorite drug store looking for some of my favorite awesomely-priced polishes! Sinful Colors at Walgreens! I just happened upon this little Heartbreaker display for Valentine's Day and got excited because I was looking for a couple pinks. Sorry for the cell phone pic; I didn't have my camera with me.

Sinful Colors - Heartbreaker 2012
From left to right:
Rich in Heart
Forget Now
Tutu
Bare
Sugar Sugar
Boom Boom
Glass Pink
Ruby Ruby

I grabbed Pinky Glitter from the regular display and Glass Pink from the Heartbreaker display because I missed it last year when they had it out. Most of these polishes look familiar to me (like Sugar Sugar from their Christmas display), but Tutu and Bare may be new. Let me know if you find this display in your store! I really should have taken my regular camera to get pics of the other displays, but this one caught my eye the most.

Until next time, happy polishing!

My Epic Win from Tin Roof Nails Swatch and Pass Giveaway

I won the Swatch and Pass giveaway from Tin Roof Nails back in December, and this is the little beauty I got! Wet n' Wild Color Icon - It's All in the Cut.

I love Theresa's handwriting - her "S" actually looks quite a lot like mine!

I do already have It's All in the Cut in my collection, but what's wrong with having an extra of one of my faves? Purple glitter FTW!

Nail Mail! December Julep Maven Box

I got my first Julep Maven box back in December when they were doing their "box for a penny" promotion. I got the Bombshell Style and I got lovely colors! On to the nail mail!

Cute holiday packaging!

Included in my December Bombshell box was Julep - Gayle, Julep - Catherine, Julep's Glycolic Hand Scrub, and a pot of blue and purple glitter! Those girls were right on when they sent that glitter in my favorite color! I am excited to try the glycolic hand scrub because my hands have been pretty rough recently. As for the polish - I think it's cool that they pick the polish out for you (although you can switch styles for the month if you like a different box better). I normally get very showy polishes and gravitate towards everything glitter and shimmer. These are lovely cremes, so I can't wait to try them out. (I may end up throwing some glitter on top though - hopefully I can hold off for the first day to get used to wearing cremes.)

Guest Post: The Power of Nail Polish By Jackie Clark

I have my very first guest post today, on a subject that is very meaningful to me. Jackie does outreach for the Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance, and she's intent on spreading the idea that women should feel beautiful no matter the circumstances, even during treatment for cancer.

While I don't personally know anyone who has had mesothelioma, my family and I have dealt with my brother's childhood leukemia, which he is in remission from today, losing my grandfather to lung cancer, and my aunt's struggle to beat breast cancer.

I have even had a little breast cancer scare myself, only to find out that I had a benign mass. All the while I was dealing with it, I felt despair, like nothing could make it better. Reading Jackie's message now, I wish I had realized the good that a little beauty therapy could have done for me.

The Power of Nail Polish
By: Jackie Clark

Nail polish can change the course of a woman's life. A manicured hand is a sign of someone who adores herself and never settles for less than anything amazing. A beautiful woman is confident. She is strong. She is able to face any challenge. With a manicure, a woman's hands can go from lacking to lovely. There is more in a manicure than just nail polish, though. It is the bond that forms when one woman holds the hand of her friend and says, "let me make you feel pretty."

A woman's true beauty lies in the strength of her spirit. It grows and flourishes within the bonds of friendship. A woman's physical appearance is as ever changing as are her life circumstances. A girl becomes a woman and her body changes. A woman becomes a mother and her body alters again. A young lady grows into her maturity like a fine wine - the longer she has to age, the more opportunity she has to become exceptional. One's beauty has little to do with what life has given to her; instead it is formed by what she gives to life. When friendships are formed, there is an opportunity to give and share the blessing of life. All women desire to feel beautiful, and they deserve to experience it regardless of their physical condition.
A cancer prognosis is traumatic. Though a woman's beauty is not dictated by her outward appearance, it is hard for a woman to feel attractive while undergoing chemotherapy and radiation to treat a cancer such as mesothelioma. Cancer does not have to win. The healing bonds of friendship and support can provide the confidence and strength needed to overcome. Leaning on friendships in times of adversity can bring out the best in the relationship. Something as small as painting one another's nails can give a therapeutic release empowering her will to fight. A feeling of elegance can arise from being pampered, and make a discouraging plight seem a little less severe. Life and beauty exist in the small moments, and so why not make the most of each one?
When a woman feels beautiful, she is empowered to do things that felt impossible before. She can stand up to her diagnosis and stare it in the face. She can say to it, "You make take my health and my looks for a time, but you cannot take my spirit. That is what makes me beautiful."

To anyone dealing with cancer, know that you can still feel like yourself - a strong, beautiful individual - no matter what you are facing. Keep strong and don't give up!

Day 5: Blue - Glitter Gradient

Hello again, everyone! No, I did not fall off of the face of the earth, I've just been hectic busy with life and time traveling with The Doctor and everything. (Any other Doctor Who fans out there?) So I'm sorry for the hiatus, but things have settled down a little bit over here and I should be able to get some more posting in! Yay! I do hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and a Happy New Year!

And now for the 31 Day Challenge mani. I have to say, I was on the fence about just quitting the challenge because I hadn't posted in so long, but I'm going to try to stick with it, no matter how long it takes me to get through the rest of these... 26 manis. Fun stuff.

Today's color is... BLUE! And boy, do I have a lovely glitter gradient for you ladies today!

Mani rundown:
1 coat Borghese - Brilliante basecoat
2 coats Claire's - Twinkle Twinkle
Milani - Cyberspace sponged 2/3 of the way up the nail
Revlon - Blue Mosaic sponged 1/2 of the way up the nail
2 coats of Poshe Topcoat

I love Claire's - Twinkle Twinkle. The space-themed name is great, and the color makes me think of the TARDIS!

Milani - Cyberspace. I really need to try this one on its own. Unfortunately, I believe Blue Mosaic covered up most of this one. Still pretty though!

Revlon - Blue Mosaic. Check out that glitter bomb! Large hex glitter in light blue and green, with a bunch of small round light blue glitter. Talk about a sparkler!

Unfortunately, I chipped a big chunk off of my middle finger last night as I was cleaning up at work. Bah! At least the fix might me easy, seeing as it's just sponging glitter on the tips!

Here's another little thing that I've been happy about recently... My roommate Andrew asked me if I'd like for him to bring his N64 to the apartment once he got back from break, and my one request was that he bring Pokemon Snap. Awwww yeahhh... So much fun and nostalgia wrapped up in one cartridge.

Also, with it being the New Year and January 1st having passed us, I thought I'd share a sweet little tidbit with you guys. New Year's Day 2012 was my one year anniversary with my boyfriend William! We had a great time living it up over in Florence with a bunch of friends. :D I hope everyone had as great of a New Year's Eve/New Year's Day as I did!

10 points to anyone who knows what Will's geeky shirt is referring to! Also, can you tell that I love glitter and pink/purple by my top? Sequins and glitter FTW!
