My Epic Win from the Sally Hansen Rock of Ages Giveaway!

I was super surprised when I got a tweet from Sally Hansen - let alone that it was a giveaway win notification from their Rock of Ages giveaway! Woot!

I received the entire set of Salon Effects from the Rock of Ages collection - talk about cool when I just recently had my first experience with their nail strips! I'm definitely looking forward to trying some of these out, especially Sticks and Stones and Fingerlace Gloves. Along with the nail strips came a guitar keychain (rad!), an inflatable guitar (fun!), and a set of coasters that look like records (sweet!!!)!

The goods!

Red-y to Rock, Fingerlace Gloves, Sticks and Stones, and Zip It!

Rock N' Roar, Good Gene's, Star Quality, and Amp It Up

The coasters are super cool too! They are shaped like records!

Well, I'm super excited about all this fun stuff I get to play with. Maybe I'll get the inflatable guitar out eventually, but my teeny apartment is pretty cramped right now. The coasters are actually my first set because I've never bought any for myself before. Hehe! I may end up replacing the Rock of Ages circles in the middle as they are cardboard and may get messed up from drinks. Buuuut anyways! Hope you enjoyed peeking in!

Upsides:

Application: Application was super easy - it took me about 40 minutes to complete at a slow pace. One of the things that I love is that it hardly has a nail polish smell to it - so I can actually apply these in the apartment without giving my boyfriend a headache! Woohoo! Another major upside for me - NO CLEANUP! I absolutely hate having to clean up my nails after painting them, and this completely does away with that problem for me.

Wear: I wanted to do a true test of these nail strips by themselves, so I didn't put any topcoat over them to see how they lasted. I've had them on for 8 days now (Sunday to Sunday), and they're still going strong. I am going to go ahead and give Sally Hansen a thumbs up on their claim that these can last for up to 10 days, if not over for me. (I have been just about dying to add some glitter to these though!) At this point I have one bigger chip on one nail and a couple of other minuscule chips and there is a little bit of shrinkage, but one of my regular manis would have chipped like crazy by now had I simply painted my nails.

Strip sizes: I didn't have a hard time finding strips that fit my nails considering the 16 strips that were in the box. I think I have a fairly traditional nail shape, so it fit pretty well with what Sally Hansen provided. I did have an instance of using a strip that was too thin, but I really can't tell that it's not thick enough unless I look at it closely. (Hint: It's my pinky - I bet you didn't even notice!) Another thing about the extra strips is that you can trim and use extras for accent nails on other manis - don't just throw them away! That, or you can do Laynie's thing and make the extras into nail decals!

Available Designs: These nail strips allow for you to put on awesome nail art without being an awesome nail artist or setting aside hours to do it. I really love that I can sit down and apply these and not deal with stripers or dotting and just do something simple if I don't have a lot of time.

Availability: I am primarily a drug store shopper, so I love that these are available basically everywhere that there's a Walgreens/CVS/Rite Aid.

Downsides:

Rough edges: The areas where the strips were close to my cuticles seemed to not adhere as well and were slightly lifted from my nail. It never started peeling off or anything, but it did catch my hair when I was showering. I think this could be fixed with an addition of topcoat, so I will try that next time I try these out.

***UPDATE*** Removal: Removing these was a little bit of a pain because the adhesive on them gets gunky and made my fingers sticky. I am one to try to reuse the same cotton pad for as many nails as possible while removing nail polish, so it pretty much just spread the glue gunk on all my fingers. I would suggest using separate cotton pads for each nail to keep gunkiness to a minimum. It took me longer to get these off than heavy glitter polish.

Overall, I am very pleased with these nail polish strips. At a price of $9.99 for a set, it makes it very affordable versus going out and getting a manicure done at a salon. I have a feeling I'll be buying them for occasions when I don't want to be stressed out figuring out what to do or if I have a time crunch and need awesome nails before an event.

My Epic Win from Chalkboard Nails' One Million Pageviews Giveaway!

I won the One Million Pageviews at Chalkboard Nails by Sarah! Yay - and congrats to Sarah on her pageviews! :)

The winnings include two polishes from brands I haven't tried before, so I'm pretty excited to try them out! They are OPI - Thanks a Windmillion and Nicole by OPI - A Million Sparkles.

OPI - Thanks a Windmillion is a muted green cream from the OPI Holland Collection from Spring 2012.

Nicole by OPI - A Million Sparkles is a multi glitter from the Nicole by OPI new 2012 release. It has gold and blue glitter with skinny blue bar glitter and thicker pink bar glitter in a clear base.

The pretties!

Bubble wrap burritos!

Icarus is a silly cat. He likes to nom on packaging supplies. Including: bubble wrap, envelopes, cardboard boxes, and any kind of adhesive. Here he is checking out the goods!

NOM!
"Tastes... delicious!!!"

Look at those chompers!

Anyways, thanks for looking and thanks to Sarah for the polishes for me and the bubble wrap package that Icarus so thoroughly enjoyed!

Spring Beauty VoxBox from Influenster

Hi all! I received a Spring Beauty VoxBox from Influenster to test and review the products within! Check out all the box has to offer!

These were all included, as well as a bonus of Dr. Scholl's for Her Ball of Foot Cushions.

Of course Icarus had to take a peek!

Sally Hansen Salon Effects in Animal Instinct - I was super excited about these because I've never tried nail strips before! They came in a hot pattern too! I've got them on now, and will be posting a review of them later this week.

ChapStick LipShield 365 - I love my ChapStick - SPF is definitely a plus too! I actually took it to Florida with me on Memorial Day weekend and it's great and has a nice lemon meringue scent and flavor. :)

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Wash - New body wash is always fun! It left me feeling moisturized and clean, but I'm a person who prefers floral-scented body wash, while this one has just a slight oatmeal scent to it. Still performs well though!

Dr. Scholl's for Her Ball of Foot Cushions - I'm not really much of a heel-wearer, but I'll try these out!

Sheer Cover Duo Concealer in Light/Medium - I wore this last night when going out for sushi and a couple drinks. The two colors are great for blending and did a great job!

Bath & Body Works Fine Fragrance Mist in Moonlight Path - I was excited to see a full-sized product like this one in this VoxBox, but upon seeing the fragrance, I was a little put off. I've encountered Moonlight Path before in foam soap form, and didn't really enjoy the scent then. The fragrance is a bit too musky for me; I do tend to prefer more floral scents, but others seem to enjoy it. Just not my cup of tea.

SoyJoy Bar in Blueberry - When I saw this was included in the box, I was not looking forward to trying it, as I have tried one before and didn't enjoy it. This time however, I liked it pretty well. The blueberry flavor is tasty. The bar is pretty dense and kind of chewy. It was enjoyable, but there are other snack bars available that I would more readily purchase than this one.

Of the seven of these, I still have to try the Dr. Scholl's cushions and will edit this post when I try them.

Being an Influenster member, I find it fun to get products and being able to share what I think about them. If you're interested in trying out this program, check them out here.

Keep an eye out for my detailed review of the Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail strips soon!

Disclaimer: I received each of these products complimentary for testing purposes from Influenster and these are my 100% honest reviews.
